The best ayurvedic creams from India for your wellbeing

Ayurveda has an application in cosmetics and parapharmacy. The price and quality of Ayurvedic creams are unbeatable.

Ayurveda ( आयुर्वेद ) literally means the science for long life. Ayurveda is the traditional medicine of India. Ayurvedic practices date back several millennia. They are the sum of all the knowledge that Indian civilization has elaborated for a better quality of life.

Ayurvedic medicine remedies include syrups and pills that restore the individual balance of the three doshas. These medicines are based on active ingredients and combinations of vegetables and minerals.

Ayurvedic creams

Traditional Indian medicine is applied to the world of Ayurvedic creams, with natural products that are a hit with locals and visitors alike.

Ayurvedic cosmetics are made with plant and mineral extracts and scented with essential oils. Based on the five elements that make up the universe, Ayurvedic medicine seeks to maintain the personal balance of each body.

Repeat travelers to India are constantly looking for more Ayurvedic creams. You can read an introduction to Ayurvedic medicine in this post.

Ayurvedic cosmetics

Ayurvedic cosmetics develop the properties of these natural products in uses related to the beauty and health of the skin and hair. The most refined brands also add essential oils that accompany the Ayurvedic creams with aromatherapy properties.

We can find a wide range of cosmetic products, from Ayurvedic toothpaste to body washes, shampoos, masks, scrubs, massage oils and anti-wrinkle creams.

Ayurvedic products are made with natural products and are considered vegan cosmetics. The companies that produce them are committed to cruelty-free products, not experimenting on animals.

Popular brands of Ayurvedic products

The industry of high-quality natural ayurvedic creams has grown a lot lately in India. Here are some of the most popular and reputed brands.

Himalaya

Himalaya is a ubiquitous brand in India. It has a strong presence both in its line of generic drugs and Ayurvedic cosmetic products.

Born in Dehra Dun, beneath the Himalayas, it has a wide range of beauty and personal hygiene products. It is the cheapest brand of all and their products are usually of excellent quality, but it does not always work the perfume or texture.

They have a strawberry-flavored lip balm that will make a great gift for everyone in the office. In addition, Ayurvedic clay creams for pimples and anti-wrinkle creams are products that are a hit with travelers.

Himalaya España is based in Malaga and has brought these wonderful products to our homes. They ship for free above a certain expenditure and although the products are not as cheap as in India, they still have unbeatable prices.

Biotique

The Biotique brand is in the same price range as Himalaya. It works more on the format, perfumes and textures of the products. It is a company focused on cosmetics and personal hygiene products. If you go into one of its theme stores, you will see that the attention is more like a high-end cosmetics store. It was the first to bring out a men’s cosmetics line and a children’s line.

Biotique has a wide presence in pharmacies and supermarkets with its personal hygiene products. The shampoos and soaps are very popular. I recommend the green apple shampoo and the orange blossom soap bars. By the way, they have a dandelion’s serum to add to your usual moisturizer that has a rejuvenating effect.

Khadi Naturals

Another company with a wide presence is Khadi Naturals. This is an initiative born out of the Gandhian movement. The ashrams produce khadi cotton textiles and natural soaps. Gramodaya Ashram has its production near Varanasi and its personal hygiene products can be found almost everywhere in India.

In pharmacies in northern India, massage oils, shampoos and soaps are easy to find. Their specialty stores are called Khadi Gramodyog. You can find them in Delhi or Pushkar among others. I recommend their excellent selection of scented glycerin soaps.

Kama Ayurveda

Kama Ayurveda Ayurvedic creams play in a different league of quality and price. This brand is backed by an Ayurveda Institute in Coimbatore in South India. The delicacy of their products is unparalleled. Try the rose water or jasmine essence, and you will realize that it is another quality.

Kama has developed recipes for traditional treatments such as the so-called Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Fluid or the intensive hair treatment called Bringadi. They also have their own cold-pressed coconut oil.

Aroma Magic, the queen of aromatherapy

Aroma Magic is a line of products from Blossom Kocchar. They are produced in Punjab and are based on the principles of aromatherapy, so they are not exactly Ayurvedic cosmetics.

They are very attractively priced and have very successful fragrances. I recommend the line of products with activated bamboo charcoal. The Aroma Magic store in Hauz Khas Village is also a beauty salon.

Ayurvedic medicines for generic uses, Ayurvedic creams and other cosmetic products are sold in most pharmacies in the country.

In many destinations like Delhi, Jaipur, Rishikesh, Pushkar you will see small Himalaya or Biotique themed stores which are the most widespread brands. Other brands are a bit more difficult to find as they are a bit more expensive and less available in pharmacies.
